the christmas performance

The girls had their Christmas performance at their preschool last night, and boy did it showcase how much they have changed in a year. At last year's Christmas performance at their preschool, they clung onto my leg and refused to participate in their class's rendition of Frosty the Snowman. This year they were excited about their upcoming performance and they each picked out their own holiday dresses to wear for their performance. They practiced their song at home by laying out a big blanket on the carpet and calling it their stage. On performance night, they got on stage with their class in front of about 200 people and sang "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands" complete with all the arm movement choreography. I was a proud mama. It made my heart happy to see them participating and having fun rather than me trying to coerce them into joining the group. After their class finished singing, they were both selected to be "actors" in the baby Jesus scene. They didn't have any lines, but just dressed up in costume. Afterwards I told them that they looked so cute dressed up as wise men and they were insulted and said, "We were shepherds!!!" Oopsie. I love celebrating all the holidays with the girls and watching the joy and wonder on their faces as we do our family traditions and fun activities together.

We were lucky enough to have my parents join us for the performance. We went out to dinner beforehand and the girls were sooooo excited to have their grandparents there that they could BARELY contain their excitement. They were about to explode!

My girls signing their song!
"He's got the whole world in his hands..."

Dressed up as shepherds (not wise men!).
