kids say the darndest things

I'm enjoying the girls so much these days...when they aren't whining or crying or crabby. :) I'm particularly enjoying them trying to be more conversational. When I try to ask them about their day and probe them with questions, it's funny the responses that I get or the things that they pick out to tell me that they think are the most interesting or important parts of their day.

I love it when I ask them a question like, "Who wants to help me make chocolate chip cookies?!??!" And they respond in chorus, "My did!!!!!"

I love when one of them toots or makes a mess or does something naughty and I say, "Who did that?" And they both say, "Sissy do dat."

I love to watch them have conversations on their little wooden telephone. They like to call Mama Niece and they ask how Ruby (the dog) is doing, they fake laugh, they say "Noooooooo" as if they are responding to some crazy question, and they blow kisses.

I love when Sophie walks into the room with hands out/palms up and says, "Where my favorite book go, Mom???"

I love Isabelle at bathtime. That's when she is her most sing-songy. She belts out the ABCs, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, or Skidamarink a dink a dink... She gets a real serious, loud voice and a furrowed brow. The words aren't all there, but she's got the tune down and she plows ahead.

I love it when Sophie expresses her adoration for her Daddy. Like when she said out of the blue the other day in her deep, serious voice, "My daddy gives me HUGS and KISSES!!" And another time when Eric hadn't seen her all day and we drove up to the house to see him and she exclaimed, "My daddy MISS me!!!"

I love to watch them interact with each other. Like when they are taking a bath and Sophie is trying to get Izzy to wash her booty, and Izzy says, "Don't want to!" Or when Izzy is being really loving towards Sophie after some minor injury, bringing her a blankie and baby and rubbing her back.

I love to watch them take care of their baby dolls, lovingly changing their "poo-poo" diapers, putting them in their own clothes, rocking them, singing them songs, and bouncing them on their shoulders.

These girls are just too dern cute and I just love them to pieces.

On a side note - I've discovered that Izzy has the strangest bite in the whole world. When I ask her to bite down, it's half overbite and have normal. One of her two front teeth is in front of her bottom teeth, and the other one is behind. It is extremely strange and I'm going to obsess about it a little bit.

diptych fun

Who thought of that strange word? In any case, I like using them and thought this particular side-by-side captured the fun-loving nature and close relationship that my girls have with their paternal grandparents. :)

see. skip. smile.

More photos of my very cute, very happy, very photogenic little nephew. Isn't Skip super cute?!

It's going to be a long weekend. Eric has to work 12 hr shifts in the ER today, tomorrow and Monday. He's going to be tired, and so am I. I'm a little tempted to try to take the girls out in their Christmas outfits to try to get a holiday photo, but then again I think I will just get frustrated with them and might skip it.

what a weekend

What a fun-filled weekend. A dinner alone with my hubby. A day to myself - shopping and a haircut without having to worry about racing home! A yummy chicken enchilada dinner with my family and in-laws. A beautiful fall day at the park with deli sandwiches and bocce ball. Watching the wee ones play so well together - ring around the rosy, wagon ride to the store, all three girls squeezing into the pink jeep, a puke-fest from Zadie Zoo. Well, that last part was no fun. But overall, good times!

I also had the opportunity to take pictures of my sister's family. They are in the process of adopting 4-month old Skip, who they've had since birth and who I had never met until this weekend! He is too cute for words. He has a really sweet disposition and an easy smile. That's my kind of baby! Aren't they such a beautiful family?!

more grandparent love

My family is visiting this weekend and I couldn't be more excited. Maybe that's why I woke up at 4am and couldn't go back to sleep. :)

My early wakeup call allowed me a little more time to work on some photos from my session with Nana and Papa. But this darn computer of mine really slowed me down. I'm hating this thing.
I put a vanilla glaze on this first photo, which gives a bit of a dreamy look.

I liked this tender moment between Nana and Sophie. Sophie wasn't super excited about doing photos and Nana was trying to get her warmed up.

Sophie just loves her Papa and can often be found snuggling up with him in his big, cozy, leather chair. Plus he's big and strong and can lift her sky-high. :)

sneak peek~nana and papa

Today we went to the park with Nana and Papa to get a few shots. These girls spend so much time with Eric's parents, but for some reason I never get my camera out, so we wanted to capture some moments today. Patty, thanks for the wonderful dinner tonight, but most of all, thanks to you and Steve for being such wonderful grandparents to the girls. They adore you, and I know you adore them too! More photos to come...

trick or treat, smell my feet

The girls were way more into this trick-or-treating thing than I expected them to be. We started off over at Nana and Papa's house and did a few houses on their block. Then we ventured over to our neighborhood (where we were the ONLY ones walking the block), and visited several more. (People just don't trick-or-treat anymore!) Isabelle wasn't afraid to go up and take candy from people, but Sophie stayed back with us and let her sister grab some candy for her. But I know Sophie still enjoyed it because each time we started walking away, she would say, "No go home, Mom. No go home."
